There is so many things which inspire and fascinate me and which I would like to show it here, 

and they are not really related with kids. It's difficult to keep only children design orientated blog , believe me.  One of my interest goes to Japanese simplicity and handcrafts. When I discovered the kitka blog I just couldn't leave this place….

John Baker and his wife Juli inspired by their travels in Scandinavia and Japan, established Mjölk 

: a gallery and furniture shop in Toronto, Canada. 

‘We realized there was something interconnected between these places…they are both cultures that celebrate things that are functional and modest. We try and find universal qualities and translate them to a western audience.’

It's finally Friday, so I have something very simple and cute for you today.

An Apple and a Pear!  I found it on a very inspiring website called :  mrprintables,

it's full of original and interesting ideas to make with kids. Perfect for the weekend…

but we are expecting some son in The Netherlands so look for us at the beach. ;-)

Every day we use the small white cups with letters R and F from Design Letters ;-) 

It's all based on the same Arne Jacobsen’s vintage typography. 
This Danish company have launched a ton of new design products at Maison & Objet 2014 in Paris. 

I especially like the Stool & Storage stool, designed by Christian Flindt. 

It is a multifunctional stool with built-in storage , so perfect for an extra seat, for laundry, 

kids toys etc. so it could stand in a bathroom, hall , children's room, 

and that's what I call a good design product.

cardboard furniture for kids

We know that kids grow so fast, 

so maybe a small KENNO cardboard chair is a nice option for our toddler if we do not want to invest a lot in small size furniture . When a child outgrows it, you can just discard it. The sturdy yet lightweight material can be re-cycled as paper and water-based adhesives are used to create its sandwich construction.  

All shown furniture are coming from Järvi & Ruoho Helsinki based design office founded in 2003.

colors in february from broste copengahen

I'm totally into this beautiful color pallet from Broste Copengahen for a new season. 

The white stones with textiles look so great…yellow, turquoise and different tones of pink. 

I'm so busy working on the Rafa-kids new furniture and some textile products which we will add to our collection in Spring…

It's time for some colors ! Looking for Spring so much!

acapulco chair

When I look at this chair, I just can't stop thinking about warm and sunny days….which I miss! 

The Acapulco chair was originally designed in Mexico in the 1950s. 

".. Legend has it that this chair was conceived by a French tourist whilst seated in an uncompromising solid chair amongst the alluringly comfortable woven hammocks strung from the nearby palms. By combining the mayan woven technique of the hammocks within a metal framework the Acapulco chair was born…"

Peter’s Table & Chair by Hans J. Wegner

A timeless classic, this Carl Hansen Children’s Table and Chair by Hans J. Wegner 
has been in production since 1944. This is my very favorite set for small kids. Looks so great, which is down to both style and simplicity of design. Sturdy and safe, it's made from pieces of wood that can be assembled and disassembled again and again - no tools are necessary. Peter's Chair was designed by Wegner as a present for the baby son of Wegner's friend and colleague Børge Mogense.

furniture from Japan : drill-design

I have a wakens for Japanese design furniture. I think its a mater of the pure look and minimal detail. You don't see much color used in their designs, so this paper-wood stools of drill-design make a little exemption. It is an experimental new material called PAPERWOOD. The ecologically-sensitive plywood was developed by this design studio and it is their own brand mark. 

Drill-design  was established in 2001 by Anzai Yoko Hayashi and Yusuke. 
They are not only interested in furniture but also design in the field of graphic,
