It's all in the 'famylje' as they say in Friesland, the northern part of Holland where Pilat&Pilat has its origins. The company was found by Gjalt Pilat starting in 1974 with his workshop in an old farmhouse where he renovated and sold antiques. His attention to detail and craft skills resulted in designing his own tables and cabinets in a strong robust style. Gjalt Pilat still designs all the pieces named after the family members with typical Frisian names like Freek, Lutske or Froukje. The furniture is mostly manufactured in their own factory in Bosnia. I got chance to see the junior bed Finne this weekend by our friends house, and it was looking really great in a 6 years old boy room. The quality of material and details are really beautiful.
